Analyse Dream Sequences

Dream Sequence in a Film

A dream sequences is a technique used in storytelling, television, and film to set apart a brief interlude from the main story. It may consist flashback, flash-forward, fantasy, vision or dream.

In the film Director use Dream sequences to decorate the some scenes; to make it look better, unique, and maybe realize something that human cannot really do without using computer techniques. For example the film called Inception, the scene where train gets into main road of a city. That is something really hard to make without using green screen, director would need a lot of money and people to make that. Source for the scene – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQIpLBLLQoQ .

Picture (rule of thirds)

At first what really gets our attention of this picture is a tree with white clouds around instead of green leaves an as we can see the clouds on the sky tread places with tree leaves.  When I look at this picture first what I am thinking of is, what made an artist draw something like this, how did he come up with this idea? What did he think of at that moment? In any event this picture look wonderful and very interesting to look at. Also I can see that the artist used the rule of third for this picture and that makes it look even better, encase if the tree would be on the middle we would concentrate our eyes only on that particular tree and wont see what surrounds it. One more thing I like about it is a colour that looks very soft and natural.

The reason I have chosen this picture is because I want to include some elements of this work into my own. I like to use soft and natural colours by filming outside in daytime and I found similar location as we can see on the picture.  The place is located on Convent Road, Thanet CT10 3PU England and called North Foreland Golf Club. This place has got lands with beautiful blue skies and many green trees around. I believe it is a perfect place for filming and achieving good results.

Picture (Golden Spiral)

Golden spiral has very interesting properties and quite often seen in the real world. It can be seen in a waveform, rose or if we look at snails and her shell we can see the spiral in there too.

In these shown picture we can see the rose, but where do we look first (which corner?)  This is quite obvious that the first place we look at on the picture is the right bottom corner as the centre of the rose is right there.

This is what people cannot control as it is something to do with eyes trace. When we first look at the picture we automatically scan it all the way through but at first we look at the main circular point of the composition. This is basically what golden spiral means. In this case when we look at this rose we look at it kind of this way, right bottom corner first, then we slightly move onto part on the top and after left side. Even we don’t mention that from our selves, this is the way we all would look at it.

There is another example of Golden Spiral.

When we look at this picture first where we look at is a face, the main part of a picture, after that we move on into the rest of her body maybe clothes she ware and at the very end we can have a look at the background, picture which appears at the back of her.

Another important think to talk about is perspective.

It has got a bit similar point as golden spiral as it makes people look at the beginning of the picture and slightly go right to the end of it to see what action is going on.
